MinistryConnect is an organization that seeks to bring together Christian ministers and churches so that both can say, "This minister is the right person for the right place for the right time." We are about creating healthy partnerships that builds up the spiritual energy of both for the benefit of the Kingdom. To find out more about what we mean by "the right fit," click on the Information tab to the right.
We believe that simple resume distribution of available ministers does not serve the church well. Ministers often ask us to circulate their resume or distribute it to churches we might know. We can't do that in good conscience. Why not? We are neither a bulletin board service nor a denominational placement office. We have no interest in being a resume-distribution center.
We believe that there is only one thing that binds Christian churches together. It is their mission as found in Matthew 28.19-20. Other than that, their vision and values, the individuals in the congregation, their church's culture, their philosophy of ministry, their theological doctrine, the hopes and dreams for their church, the environment in which God planted that church, are all different in varying degrees.
We believe that not every minister can serve every church. We believe that a two-page resume does not begin to paint a portrait of who the minister is and what the minister can do. We believe the recommendation of a friend is not enough on which to base such a critical decision as calling a minister to serve a church. We believe that a pastor can serve very effectively one church but never connect with the next church they serve no matter how hard the minister tries. We believe that both churches and ministers need to provide complete and full information to see how well they can relate to one another.
Here's how we can help ministers:
Counseling
We have ministers who communicate with us after a bad experience in ministry, about being in a mismatched situation, about changing the role they are serving to a different role, about struggles their marriage and family may be facing. If they do not have a trusted counselor, we connect them with one of our partner ministries, Dr. Trathen & Associates, Aurora, Colorado . Go to our "Links" page to see their services. The organization also provides churches working with us basic psychological assessments to help churches understand the potential minister's psychological health .
TheSHAPE©
This tool is designed to help ministers and churches see the minister in seven different aspects of life: gifts, values, role in a project or process, leadership approach, age-group preferences, personality inventory and life experiences. Click on "Sample" to the right to see a model report. A minister can reveal more of who he or she is through this tool than about any assessment available today. It is not a psychological test, and it does not reveal any pathologies. That is not its intended purpose. Its purpose is to take a snapshot of the entire person in areas that churches have an interest and even a right to know about a ministerial candidate. Few ministers are fired over theology. What we do find is conflict over leadership style and personality traits that the church was not aware they would have to address.
We want ministers to know that churches using our search process for staff are strongly encouraged to administer TheSHAPE © to their final candidates for a ministerial position. We recommend that you order a complimentary Minister Profile through
info@ministryconnect.net to use as your enhanced resume.
